A Welcome Note from our PTA President
Date: 8/31/2026 9:01 pm
Welcome back ATS Stars and families!
My name is Abbas Ravjani, and I am excited to be the ATS Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) President for the 2026-2027 school year!
A little about me: I’m a native Texan, but have called the DMV home for nearly 20 years. By day, I’m a lawyer / public policy professional working on AI at Meta and previously spent many years at the State Department and other national security agencies. When not PTA-ing, you’ll see me as dad/coach to Nura (5th) and Kareem (3rd) or with my better half, Atiya Khan.
Our PTA is made up of hard-working parents & teachers who pool their talents to provide support for our school. This comes in the form of special events (e.g. fall festival, community movie night), support to teachers and students with additional resources in the classroom, advocacy on policy issues with APS and the School Board, and much, much more.
The PTA Executive Board, which includes over 25 parents, has been hard at work this summer with a focus on making our community stronger. As an option school, we don’t have the luxury of a built-in neighborhood community. We have to be intentional about finding ways to build and strengthen our community. I encourage you to think about how you can best contribute to making ATS a special place. Whether it’s volunteering an hour or baking a treat for the fall festival, supporting the PTA financially with dues and a voting membership, or simply attending an event, active parent involvement is a key part of the ATS experience.

I look forward to seeing you soon at one of our upcoming events at ATS and at our first PTA meeting on October 7.
