Walk & Roll to School Day

9/28/2023 8:19 pm

Where and when? Scheduled for one day in October each year, stay tuned!

Why? It’s fun! There will be a school photo with all bikers and walkers, stickers for all, and prizes for the farthest walk and ride.

What if I live too far away? Park at Madison Manor Park (6225 12th Rd N) and walk from there. Or park at Bon Air Park (850 N Lexington St and bike from there). Meet Mrs. Schoenbrun at 7am at Bon Air Park and bike to ATS as a group.

How can I get my kids to have breakfast and walk or bike to school by 7:30 am?! Let them buy breakfast in the cafeteria after the event.

Reflections

9/10/2023 12:02 pm

Each fall, every student at ATS will have the opportunity to participate in the National PTA Reflections contest.

This year’s theme is “I am Hopeful Because…” Watch the 2023-2024 Reflections Call for Entries video with your child to get inspired.

Students can submit entries in literature, videography, dance, music, photography, or visual arts. Entries require an artistic submission (in paper or electronic format) and a short explanation of how the submission interprets the theme.

Entries will be due in early November and are required for Grades 3-5 (encouraged for Grades K-2).

If you have questions about this year’s theme or ATS’ Reflections program, contact atsreflections@gmail.com.

Box Tops for Education

8/10/2023 3:15 pm

Money from Box Tops goes straight into your classrooms, through Grants and Teacher Reimbursements. Get your kids involved to search for Box Tops and clip them (be sure to keep the expiration date on)!

You can spot bright pink Box Tops on a wide array of the food and household products, from granola bars to diapers, school supplies to detergent. Some of the brands included in the program are General Mills, Pillsbury, Old El Paso, Green Giant, Ziploc, Hefty, Kleenex, and Scott. Each of these Box Tops is worth 10 cents to ATS.

**No Guilt Option: If you forget or don’t have anything with box tops on it, just paper clip $5.00 to the Box Top collection form and turn it in – we’ll count that as a complete sheet!

Box Tops are now easier than ever! You can still hunt down bright pink Box Tops logos, but now you no longer need to clip and send Box Tops to school. All you need is your phone!

To participate:

1) Download the ALL-NEW Box Tops app.

2) Select “Arlington Traditional School” as your school.

3) Shop for Box Tops products (there are hundreds at the grocery store – some of the brands included are Pillsbury, Cheerios, Yoplait, Annie’s, Old El Paso, Cascadian Farms, and Lysol).

4) Scan your store receipts with the app to find participating products.

The app will automatically credit ATS with our Box Tops earnings from your receipt. Twice a year, ATS will receive a check to buy whatever we need to support our school. Money from Box Tops goes straight into your classrooms, through Grants and Teacher Reimbursements.

Harris Teeter Cards

8/10/2023 3:09 pm

Harris Teeter’s Together In Education program gives schools a chance to earn funds when you link your VIC card and shop Harris Teeter brands.

When you shop Harris Teeter brands, a percentage of your purchase is donated to the school that your VIC card is linked to.

Any customer with a VIC card can link their card to a school. Customers can link up to five (5) schools to their account. The more people that connect their loyalty cards to a school, the higher the earning potential for a school.

Don't forget to sign up...You must renew every year! See the Harris Teeter site to enter the ATS code.

ATS School Code: 4378

You can also ask your store’s customer service department to link your card – Just provide them the code above.

REACH for Uganda

Arlington Traditional School is proud to partner with and support our sister school in Uganda, REACH for Uganda (formerly the Arlington Academy of Hope).  Founded by John and Joyce Wanda, the mission of REACH is to help children in rural Uganda reach their full potential.

Please visit their website, https://reachforuganda.org/ to learn more about this amazing organization.  Then, support their goal – for the Arlington Academy of Hope to serve as a model which lifts the standards of education and demonstrates that children can learn when their basic needs are met.
