A Message from our PTA President to Close Out 2025

As we reach the midpoint of the school year, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible success we’ve built together and share the PTA’s vision for the second half of the year!

Our community’s energy and generosity are unmatched, and because of your support, the ATS PTA has already delivered a significant impact this year and has over 200 dues paying members!

• Empowering Teachers: Funded multiple Classroom Grants for innovative projects, literacy materials, and specialized supplies.
  
  
• Enriching Experiences: Fully funded our annual Reading Carnival (including activities and sponsored shirts).
  
  
• Building Community: Successfully hosted our Movie Night, Fall Festival, and Book Fair, celebrating our amazing diversity.
  
  
• Celebrating our Amazing Teachers: Provided lunch and snacks for Parent-Teacher conference days and with our updated support model have been able to celebrate teachers throughout the year with additional lunches, breakfasts and treats.
  
  
• Successful Policy Advocacy: Led countywide PTA advocacy for equitable technology access for 1st grade classrooms, leading to the Superintendent making changes to APS policy that will be implemented in January at ATS.
  

We’re building on this momentum with our biggest programs yet. Mark your calendars!

• Spring Events: Whether it’s our new Family Game Night (Jan), the Annual ATS-Tuckahoe Teacher and Staff Basketball Game (Feb), or our famous International Night (May)—every month has something great!
  
  
• Teacher Appreciation: Planning a robust and heartfelt appreciation week to thank our staff who make ATS the #1 Elementary School in Virginia.
  
  
• Investing in ATS: We will be soliciting community feedback soon to make long-lasting upgrades through our Capital Investments Committee.

Get Involved: Your Help Matters Most
You've already answered the PTA’s challenge to volunteer at least one hour for each child, which helps keep ATS a special place! As we move into our busiest season, we need everyone to pitch in. Thank you for making ATS exceptional. Let’s make the second half the best one yet!

RESCHEDULED: Superintendent Community Meeting with ATS now January 12th

ATS will have a community meeting with APS Superintendent Dr. Francisco Duran and his Chief of Staff, Brian Stockton, on Monday, January 12th, at 6:00 PM. The meeting will be held in person at Arlington Traditional School and childcare for children ages 4+ will be available. 

The PTA is asking families to suggest topics and items for discussion to help guide the conversation on what is most valuable for the community. Please fill out the survey below by Wednesday, January 7th.
